A PLAQUE has been unveiled to mark the official opening of a new road outside Evesham.
The £3.9m Chadbury-Twyford link road is aimed at reducing traffic through Evesham and lowering accident rates.
The chairman of Worcestershire County Council, Derek Prodger, led the ceremony at a roundabout at the Chadbury end of the scheme on Friday morning.
"I'm delighted the many years of campaigning by local residents, district councillor Jo Sandals and myself have eventually succeeded with the opening of this road," said county councillor Clive Holt, of Evesham.
"It will be a great boon to motorists travelling on the A44 from Worcester and will improve the quality of life for local residents in the Squires, Greenhill and Twyford Bank."
