MALVERN Hills District Council will be running basketball coaching clinics for years six and seven every Monday, 6-7pm for girls and 7-8pm for boys, based at the Hanley Castle sports hall beginning on Monday (November 8) at a cost of just £1 per session.

No matter what your level of ability, whether you have played basketball or not, everybody is welcome to attend. Each session will be run in a fun and friendly atmosphere by fully qualified and experienced MHDC basketball coaches who will teach the fundamental and team skills required to become a basketball player.

Sessions are part of the Districts Active Sports program, aiming to increasing accessibility, participation and enjoyment within basketball.

All participants will then have the opportunity to represent the Malvern Hills in the first ever County Basketball central venue tournament to be held at University College, Worcester, on November 28. The tournament will consist of six teams from across Worcestershire and each team will have been developed through similar channels so will compete at a similar standard.

There will be a tournament every month until March, so providing plenty of opportunities to try out your newly honed skills in match situations. As well as the clinics and tournaments there will be talent identification scouts who will be looking for talented youngsters to attend county development camps and be part of the county team to play nationwide.

As the weather deteriorates this is your opportunity to get involved with one of the fastest growing and most exciting indoor activities within the country.
