BRITISH servicemen who fell in conflicts around the world will be remembered at two ceremonies in Malvern next month.

On Armistice Day itself, Thursday, November 11, there will be a short ceremony at Belle Vue Island, during which the two-minute silence will be observed and crosses planted.

The following Sunday is Remembrance Day, when the usual parade and service will take place.

Malvern Hills District Brass Band will lead the parade along Graham Road, starting at 2.20pm.

Following the band will be councillors and council officers, ex-service organisations, emergency services, cadet organisations and other groups.

The parade will stop at the war memorial in the library grounds, where a hymn and a prayer will be followed by the wreath-laying ceremony.

The parade will remuster and march to the Priory, where standards will line the entrance to the church while everyone else enters for the service.

After the service, the parade will reassemble outside the Priory and march via Church Street to Graham Road, where town council chairman Ralph Madden will take the salute. Coun Madden will then host a reception at the town council office on Belle Vue Terrace.

John Kimberley, honorary secretary of Malvern's Royal British Legion branch, said: "There was only one year in the 20th Century when no British serviceman was killed in action.

"We must never forget their sacrifice, and the prime object of the Legion is to help the ex-servicemen and their dependents."
