WELLAND welcomed their opponents from the Central Warwickshire League for this first round WFA County Cup match.

WELLAND JUNIORS 3, FECKENHAM 0

Feckenham proved difficult opponents playing with determination from the outset but couldn't wrestle control of midfield from their hosts.

Welland forced a corner on the right which Russell Alderson sent into the area and defender Mike Butler met to shoot low into the left hand corner to score his first for the club.

Despite numerous chances at both ends there were no further goals until after the break.

Feckenham went close a couple of times early in the second half hitting the bar and post before Welland imposed themselves once more upon their opposition culminating in a left foot strike by midfielder Josh Fernie from a Russell Alderson cross. Game over.

Not satisfied with two goals, Welland continued to press forward creating numerous chances to further extend their lead. However, it wasn't until the 79th minute when Bruce Rogers' strong header found captain, Joe Waldron who set up Richard Pitt with a clever through ball which he struck with venom rattling the back of the net.

Man of the match, sponsored by Butlers Health & Fitness, was Ollie Smith.

DRAKES BROUGHTON RANGERS U15s 3, MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS U15s 1

MALVERN Town Wanderers travelled to Upton Snodsbury for this league fixture.

Both sides started the match with a flurry of activity, but it was Drakes Broughton who took the lead with a goal after seven minutes. Good interplay from Wanderers resulted in several near misses but Drakes Broughton capitalised on their lead and on 11 minutes scored their second. Despite a number of shots on goal including two from Lloyd Merrick, the score at half time remained 2-0.

The second half started with Wanderers on the attack and after a fine ball from James Lush, Paul Jordan finished good team work off with a goal to make the score 2-1. Wanderers had a spell of 20 minutes when they did everything but score and despite good play and sterling efforts conceded another goal to make the final score 3-1.

BROMYARD TOWN GIRLS U13S 2, PERSHORE TOWN GIRLS U13S 7

BROMYARD were emphatically beaten by current champions Pershore in a Mercian League clash at Delahay Meadow.

Having picked up their first point of the season last time out Bromyard were keen to continue where they left off and began the match brightly. However, it was Pershore who took the lead. Bromyard though soon responded with a strike from last season's top scorer Grace Rogers.

Bromyard then went on to increase their lead with a goal from Forward Casey Lewis, who worked tirelessly all game. Pershore though were in no mood to give in and scored before half time, leaving both sides on level terms at the interval

The game in the second half was a completely different affair with Pershore mounting wave after wave of attacks on the Bromyard goal. Bromyard tried to respond but three quick goals by Pershore effectively ended the game as a contest.

Bromyard appeared to lose heart and with Pershore playing a superb passing game conceded a further two goals before the end.

Captain Clare Almond worked hard for Bromyard, who will look to improve considerably in their next game.

SEVERN CITY JUNIORS U12S 0,

NEWTOWN SPORTS JUNIORS U12S 9

NEWTOWN Sports Juniors produced a scintillating display to overpower Severn City and emerged comfortable nine-goal winners.

Juniors created chances throughout and an early Will Watling brace soon had them in control. A fine run and shot from Kyte saw Mallett react when the ball came back of the post to make it three. It was incredible that the Juniors failed to add to their tally during the half as a host of chances went begging.

Severn enjoyed early second half pressure but was denied by a superb Freeman save who reacted brilliantly to turn aside a deflected shot. Rock made it four with an instinctive strike and Parker then fired home for five. It was all Juniors and this time the chances were converted Mallett curled home his sides' sixth and the industrious Roskams powered home a header for seven. Further goals from Bannister and Watling made the rout complete as the Juniors notched nine goals without reply.
