I AM writing to pay tribute to the Malvern U16 rugby team who last week visited Italy and played two games against two of the top U17 teams in northern Italy.
I wished to praise these young men for their behaviour both on and off the pitch. The youth of today are so often criticised but these 20 lads made a wonderful impression in the town of Monselice with the locals, both young and old.
They wore their official Malvern RFC shirt and tie for the first time and the image they created will stay with me for a long time.
They were a credit to the town, to Malvern RFC and to their coach, Gary Tolley, who has put so much time and energy into this team over the last ten years.
