COMMUTERS fed up with the daily grind of driving up and down Britain's most infamous motorway should get their hands on a new book by a Worcestershire author which points out places of interest along the way.

The M6 Sights Guide is Mike Jackson's second book, following the success of the M5 version, published last year.

The 96-page tome is a comprehensive guide to 500 sites, from power stations and Spaghetti Junction to major monuments along the 234-mile road, with 200 colour photographs which Mike, a TV producer who works on Bargain Hunt and Flog It, took himself.

Mike, who lives in Suckley, near Worcester, said he decided to compile the book after he sold all 6,000 copies of the M5 Sights Guide.

"It's not as pretty as the M5 but it is very interesting .

"The book is very much a journey of exploration and also includes stories from people I met along the way like the farmers who are still raw from the experience of having the M6 toll road built through their land."

The M6 Sights Guide, which costs £9.99, will be available from local bookshops within the next week.
