THE Macmillan Nurses coffee morning, which Bromesberrow Heath Post Office & Stores participated in, was a great success with £204 being raised for the Macmillan Nurses Cancer fund. It was organised by John and Carol Meredith and next year they want to make it bigger and better and are already asking for ideas.

The Remembrance Sunday memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 14, at 10am at St Mary's Church, Bromesberrow, when the ecumenical service will be used. The wreath laying will take place at the war memorial at 11am weather permitting.

The new hall at Bromesberrow St Mary's School is proving to be a real asset. As well as being used for school dinners which now has hot meals on the menu again, it is also used for collective worship, afternoon PE lessons, music etc and is in constant use five days a week until 6pm. The school celebrated harvest with a service at St Mary's Church, which was led by Dr P Newing with each class participating.

Bromesberrow Gardening & Social Club continues to attract good attendances to its monthly meeting, with over 50 members present in October at the village hall. Local orchid expert Alan Greatwood was the speaker. He has lived and grown orchids in Bromesberrow for many years and is renowned for his work and has received both national and international acclaim. He included slides in his talk. At each monthly meeting a trophy is awarded to the competition prize winner. At the October meeting the Doug Hill Monthly Memorial Trophy was awarded to Kathy Myers for the best autumnal floral display after members had voted for her arrangement as the most aesthetically pleasing. The November meeting will be the AGM on Thursday, November 11, at 7.30pm at the village hall and will include a talk by Elaine Horton on bulbs and tubers.
