Rob Thomas demonstrated the art of bonsai at Lickhill Road Community Centre on October 13. He turned a seven-year-old conifer into a bonsai and also exhibited some of his prize-winning collection of mature trees. It is hoped to attract new members with the remaining two autumn talks.
On November 18 society president Michael Ecob will present "Gardens for Pleasure", featuring gardens at Marwood, in Devon, Saville Gardens, at Windsor, Powys Castle, Stourhead, Biddulph Grange, Bodnant, and his own gardens, plus a review of the new Alnwick Castle gardens, visited this summer.
The highlights of these gardens will be illustrated by slides, ranging from majestic castles to humble bumblebees.
On December 8 former chairman Keith Newnham will talk about the aims, history and shows of the society. Both meetings will start at 7.30pm, at the community centre.
Visitors will be most welcome.
