A WOMAN suffered a detached retina, suspected broken ribs and severe bruising when she was attacked by another woman as she walked home after a night out.

The attack took place in New Road, Kidderminster between 1am and 2.15am on Sunday. The victim was in her 40s.

The woman who carried out the attack seemed to be arguing with a male companion. She then shouted across to the victim, then charged at her, pushing her to the ground and kicking her several times.

The attacker was described as white, in her 20s, 5ft 5ins tall and slim, with blonde hair tied back in a ponytail. She was wearing a black knee-length coat and blue jeans which were tucked into flat beige boots.

The male, who took no part in the attack, was also white, in his 30s, 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins tall and stocky. He was either bald or had short shaven hair. He was wearing a distinctive long-sleeved white t-shirt with a red splash design across the front.

PC Joanne Bills, of Kidderminster police, who was investigating the incident, said the victim had been treated in hospital for her injuries and released.

She said: "The attack happened near Kidderminster Carpets and Bed City and there is a burger van nearby, so there would have been people around.

"It is a good time to remind women that it is best to get a taxi, rather than walk home alone," she added.
