A SUPERB performance by goalkeeper Ian Evans was not enough to prevent Stourport seconds falling to a 3-1 defeat at reigning champions Belper.

They were 1-0 down at the break and although first team captain Phil Lashford, making a guest appearance, equalised, they couldn't hold on.

Belper piled on the pressure and two late goals in quick succession swung it in their favour. On Saturday, the seconds play host to Bournville at 12.30pm.

Braces from Alex Vale and Mark McKinnon gave the thirds a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Nottingham University.

Despite the students only having 10 players, they battled on and even took the lead. But Stourport settled into their stride to win both halves 2-1

The thirds travel to Edgbaston on Saturday.

The fourths hope to get back on track when they play host to Leek at 2pm on Saturday.

After starting the season with three wins, last weekend's 2-0 defeat at Birmingham University was their third successive loss.

They failed to create enough chances against the newly-promoted side and conceded goals in the first and last 10 minutes.

The fifths went goal-crazy as they walloped Beeston 8-2. Scott Dimmock and David Bedford hit braces, while Rob Bratt, David Westhead, Simon Mauger and Paul Treleski were also on target.

They will be hoping for more of the same when they visit Cannock fourths on Saturday.

Stourport sixths slumped to only their second defeat in two years after failing to convert their chances.

They were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline at home to Bridgnorth fourths with Frank Colwill scoring as consolation.

Phil Knight hit the post twice and they also missed an open goal but it was not to be. They bid to bounce back at Wolverhampton fourths on Saturday.

After a week off from matches, Stourport Ladies will resume their Worcestershire First Division programme on Saturday with a trip to Bromsgrove.

They have not lost in the league yet this season, and hope to continue this run of good results.

The seconds extended their unbeaten run of matches with a 6-2 home win over Harborne thirds.

Jessica Trundle hit a hat-trick while Kerry Walker, Rosie Connolly and Vicki Clarke also scored.

Six goals for Teri Baron and one by Georgina Burns extended the thirds' unbeaten run with a 7-0 hammering of Harborne 4th in a friendly fixture.

The two sides will meet in the league in the final fixture before Christmas.
