CRACK up with George Egg at the next Stratford Comedy Zone show next week. The man with the comedy name to launch a thousand puns is sure to be remembered and, says Adam Montgomery, Comedy Zone promoter and compere: "Then you see him and it gets better".

"He looks funny," said Adam. "Like a cross between Eric Morecambe and Harry Hill. However, it's his jokes you'll remember best of all.

"One of the most visually impressive comics around, George performs a series of stunts, tricks and magic that raises gasps of disbelief and howls of laughter from audiences - with a finale that Tommy Cooper would have been proud of. All this packed between surreal tales and hilarious observations."

Adam has run the Comedy Zone in Stratford since 1996. It began at The Arena in Swans Nest Lane and then went briefly to the RSC before settling at Cox's Yard.

At its new home since January, it has proved so popular that this autumn season performances have increased to fortnightly instead of monthly.

George Egg will be joined on the bill by Dan Evans, who is on the comedy circuit 'after leaving a career as East Anglia's leading office menial after a mix up over some missing stationary'. But office life's loss is the comedy fan's gain.

He has made numerous TV appearances since he hit the road in 1994 and he is also an accomplished comedy writer, providing lines for Rory Bremner, Brian Conley and Lily Savage among others, as well as winning two British Comedy Awards for his work with Milton Jones for Radio 2.

Tickets for the Thursday shows can be bought at www.coxsyard.co.uk or from the venue itself. They cost £7 in advance or £8 on the night. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8.30pm start.
