STRESS has been recognised for years as affecting adults but a nursery in Warndon has taken things a step further by offering a relaxation area for children.
The Leapfrog Day Nursery opened the doors of its state-of-the-art "sensory room" to parents and carers yesterday to mark National Stress Awareness Day.
Nursery manager Vicky Thurston said: "There is little doubt that, increasingly, stress is becoming part of everyday life and National Stress Awareness Day is a great opportunity to address this.
"We offered parents a respite from the school run with the chance to unwind in our sensory room.
"The state-of-the-art facility has been designed to encourage relaxation among the children.
"Inside the specially adapted room are soothing lighting effects and plenty of comfortable seats, making for a quiet, restful experience."
Leapfrog's Warndon Nursery in Brindley Road has capacity for more than 100 children up to the age of five.
It has all the latest facilities, including air conditioning, under floor heating, CCTV throughout and secure access systems.
