CHRISTIAN Evans has been labelled Mr Consistent by John Brain.

The blindside flanker, who has been a major reason behind Worcester Rugby Club's great run this season, has stayed fit for the majority of the campaign and Brain believes it's no coincidence that the Warriors have remained unbeaten.

"He's got the respect of everyone at the club," said Brain, Worcester's director of rugby.

"He's a very good player of whom always reaches a consistently high level of performance. Christian is not the biggest back row in the world but he plays every ounce of his weight.

"He always gives you 120 per cent and with that you get a very, very good rugby player. He's someone I've got a great deal of respect for as a player and as a person."

Evans struggled with injury last season and Brain is certain that if the 33-year-old had have stayed fit, the campaign could have gone very differently.

"When he takes to the field, he lets his game do the talking," said Brain.

"I think we definitely missed him last year. He took a big hit at Plymouth and took time to get over that. This season, he's been available to us for most of the season and I think we've benefited from that.

"We were without Chris, Mark Gabey and Richard Bates for much of the season so we struggled in that sense. In the big games this season, you want Evans, Gavin Pfister and Drew Hickey in your back row.

"That's what we want in the big games and they've shown that when it mattered. When everyone is playing well, that is the best back row at the club.

"They'll get tested again today at Exeter but I've got confidence in those players because they've been there and done it this season."
