RECORD signing Jai Stanley is determined to justify his price tag when he makes his Worcester City debut at Eastbourne Borough tomorrow (3pm).

The 25-year-old play-maker is eager to start repaying the faith shown in him by manager John Barton which persuaded the club to splash out a five figure fee to secure his services.

Stanley has played down the burden of expectation on his shoulders following his move to St George's Lane but, while not admitting to any nerves, is keen to make a favourable impression on his first start for the club.

"I will be telling myself it is just another game but obviously it is not," he said. "It's a special thing to make your debut for a club and I want to make a good impression.

"Certainly with what has been paid out you want to show people you are a good footballer and justify the hype."

"Your debut can go either way," added Stanley. "Sometimes it can be awkward or sometimes you just gel straight away.

"I just want to win every match. I'm not bothered if I score or not, just if we win because that's the idea of the game."

A sore knee prevented Stanley from training indoors with the squad this week but after training by himself he is raring to go.

"I've been really looking forward to it because I relish playing more than anything else," he added. "I've had a week off and I get twitchy when I don't play so I'm keen to get out there."

Stanley will be hoping for better luck against Garry Wilson's Eastbourne side than he experienced at Moor Green earlier in the season, who slumped to a 1-0 defeat at home.

"I can't remember too much about it so it can't have been too memorable," he added.

City manager John Barton will have winger Adam Wilde back from suspension and full-back Paul Carty returns after missing the Marine defeat with a flu virus last weekend.

Defender Barry Woolley has shaken off a similar virus and will be fit, but full back Jon Holloway is still ruled out with a groin strain.

Meanwhile, trialist defender Craig Dean has left the club after failing to shake off an Achilles problem which restricted him to just two appearances.
