AN injury to record signing Jai Stanley overshadowed Worcester City's victory against Sutton Coldfield Town last night.

The midfielder limped off with a knee injury in the 16th minute and faces a scan to assess the damage.

Stanley is rated doubtful for Saturday's league clash with Crawley Town but, depending on the severity of the damage to his medial ligaments, could miss the festive programme including a Boxing Day return to his former club Moor Green.

City boss John Barton tried to paint an optimistic picture but admitted it was worrying.

"His knee was sore on Saturday and he went to play a side-foot pass and has felt a sharp pain which is concerning," said Barton.

"But the situation is that at the end of the game it felt a lot better to be fair and we are hoping it is something that has come and gone and he is ready to play on Saturday."
