SATURDAY is a big day for Worcester City against Cambridge City in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round and we need everybody pulling in the same direction.

Our last three league results have not been the greatest and it was disappointing again at Harrogate Town. We deserved at least a point but sometimes you don't get your just desserts.

I can't criticise the players for their performance. They played much better than in their previous two games and perhaps they will get some reward for that on Saturday.

We have not become a bad side in the space of seven or eight days. We were unbeaten in nine league games before our losing run and that was everybody's favourite tag for us then.

I've always said that the strength of the club is what you have got on the bench and not what is sitting in the stands.

As well as the players out injured, there are one or two others that should not have been playing against Harrogate. On another given day, I would not have played Paul Carty or Adam Webster. Any team will struggle when they have six, seven, eight players unavailable. I'm not hiding from that and if anybody else can't see that then they are not assessing our situation correctly.

We would liked to have covered those injured by bringing in players on a short term basis to cover the gaps. However, these players just aren't available and we are committed to the players already at the club.

I understand people's frustrations. This club has been yearning to get back to where it was 20 years ago when it was in the Alliance Premier League.

I know what the true position of the club is despite what a few people think.

It's interesting that the managers of at least two clubs we've played against have both alluded to us as 'moneybags Worcester' in their programme notes. That has been our problem for years, that the perception of us being flush with cash, but it is totally untrue.

It's nice to get back playing in the FA Cup and we are in a position like most other clubs that we need the money and the benefits that come from the competition. That does put undue pressure on us to win a few cup matches and get a decent run going.

Cambridge City are a useful side and showed that when they beat us 2-0 at St George's Lane in the last game of last season. There's a lot of danger in this fixture but I'm sure their manager Gary Roberts will be saying exactly the same. They would not have wanted to come here.

Danny McDonnell is training with us this week and he put in a good performance in the reserves on Monday night. He should be ready for Saturday and that is great news for the team.

I've been saying for the last two or three years that he is the best goalkeeper in our division.
