MANAGER John Barton is poised for a Christmas bonus with the return of defenders Allan Davies and Jon Holloway for the Boxing Day clash at Moor Green (11.30).

The duo took part in a practice match in training and if neither suffer a reaction, will come into the frame for their Dr Martens Premier Division trip to the Moorlands.

Holloway has not started a match since the league defeat to Nuneaton Borough way back on October 4 but if Davies (ankle) is fit may have to settle for a place on the bench.

Centre back Barry Woolley, who has been nursing a knock on his hip, is set to report fit to continue his partnership alongside City captain Carl Heeley.

"All three took part in the practice match but we will have to see what the reaction is and we'll do a roll call when we get there on Boxing Day," said Barton.

"Jon Holloway was okay but he's obviously been out for a long time with a shortage of games and fitness that goes with it."

The only lingering fears for Barton will be ring rustiness after 18 days without a game due to the weather but after a lively practice match on Monday night, City's manager was in good spirits.

"We are pleased with what we've seen in training on Monday where we saw lots of positive stuff and the whole exercise was really worthwhile," he said.

"Moor Green are clawing themselves out of danger but irrelevant of where they are in the league, these games are always hard fought contests and very competitive.

"We will have to earn the right to play and I expect a quick pace and tempo to the game and we'll need to be up for the challenge but I'm sure we will be."

Victory will give City a hat-trick of league victories following successes against Weston and Eastbourne.

But Moor Green have the upper hand in recent years at their Birmingham headquarters with two wins and a draw.

Danny McDonnell, who produced an outstanding display at Moor Green last season to help City earn a point in a 1-1 draw, will be suspended this time round with Chris Taylor filling his shoes.
