THE return of Kidderminster Harriers' walking wounded has already given the club a new spark, according to assistant boss Gary Barnett.

And Harriers will be desperate to take that feel-good factor into tomorrow's home game with old foes Macclesfield Town at Aggborough.

Five Coca-Cola League Two defeats in a row have plunged Jan Molby's men into the dreaded bottom-of-the-table slot but one of the reasons for the slump has been a lack of continuity due to the injury troubles.

Harriers are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel, though Lee Jenkins' knee injury in the 3-0 defeat at Swansea last weekend is causing concern.

However, centre-half Abdou Sall, midfielder Frederic Advice-Desruisseaux and strikers Youssou Diop and Iyseden Christie are all pushing for starting places.

They are all back in regular training and Dean Keates joined them yesterday but is still a doubt with his ankle problem.

'Keeper John Danby will be fit to play, despite suffering a broken nose and needing stitches to the head in Wales.

Barnett said: "There has certainly been a different atmosphere around training this week.

"We now have a lot more players there and it has been like signing a couple of new players in effect.

"It has given everyone a lift down the training ground and I really hope we can take that into the Macclesfield game.

"We have got to start the game at a high tempo and keep that going for as long as we can."

Fifth-placed Macclesfield will be looking to avoid complacency after two defeats this season against Southend and Chester who were both bottom of League Two at the time.

But they did record a fine 3-1 win over Grimsby last weekend with experienced 'keeper Alan Fettis and former Harriers target Tony Barras both returning to the squad.

Defenders Steve Payne (knee) and Matthew Carragher (shin) remain on the injury list.

Boss Brian Horton was given more scope in the summer transfer exchanges, netting forward Mike Sheron who had Premier League experience with Man City and Norwich.

The experienced Horton also signed highly rated Lincoln wing-back Mark Bailey.

And Macclesfield have triumphed in the last three visits to Aggborough, including 4-1 last season when up against a particularly dire Harriers display.

So the Worcestershire side certainly owe their former non-league rivals one and will be determined to add to their woeful three-goal league tally tomorrow.

Barnett added: "It definitely seems there is something about this place that Macclesfield like.

"It certainly presents a challenge for us to put that right.

"Macclesfield have had a decent start. Since Brian Horton went there, he has got them well organised and they are getting some good results.

"It was always going to be tough for us at the start of this season with new lads coming into the team and getting to know each other.

"We feel it will click and let's just hope it clicks on Saturday."

Harriers' right-back position, something of a problem, may well be filled by Chris McHale.
