JAN Molby certainly has faith in his own ability to put smiles back on faces at Kidderminster Harriers.

The Coca-Cola League Two side were in grave relegation danger for much of last season with one of their worst moments being a 3-0 defeat at Roots Hall, home of Southend United.

Harriers go back there tomorrow with unpleasant memories of two controversial penalties, a Craig Hinton own goal and Jan Molby's dug-out dismissal which led to a touchline ban.

But Harriers have reasons to be positive with players back from injury and Molby signing a contract until the end of the season this week.

And they moved off the bottom of the table last weekend with a 1-0 win over Macclesfield Town, thanks to Richie Appleby's penalty.

Molby led Swansea to the old Division Three play-offs and Harriers to the Conference title in his first spell in Worcestershire.

And he admitted: "I've had relative success with the way I like to do things. At Swansea and here at Kidderminster, I built two sides who did ever so well.

"I think I can do that again. But you do need your bigger players available and we have seen the lift that has given us.

"It took for ever and a day to put the squad together with the money we had available, it wasn't easy. But I still think with everybody fit we have a squad that's good enough to stay in the division and it's young enough to build for the future."

Forward Iyseden Christie, in particular, gave Harriers a fresh spark in a second-half display against Macclesfield that improved on recent efforts.

Whether Christie is ready for a start tomorrow is unlikely but Senegal striker Youssou Diop will be looking for his first competitive goal after returning to the line-up.

Molby added: "Youssou has got some quality and if he can get the pace of the game he will be a handful for anyone."

At the other end, Harriers are unlikely to have to worry about former forward Drewe Broughton coming back to haunt them.

Broughton has been confined to the subs bench lately after struggling for league goals at Southend since joining from Kidderminster on a free transfer in summer 2003.

The 25-year-old target man, who struck up a fruitful partnership with Bo Henriksen at Aggborough, admitted: "I haven't played much lately so I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to start.

"It's obviously been frustrating for me but then I have to hold my hands up and say my first three or four games of the season were well below the standards I set myself from Christmas onwards last year."

Broughton has been restricted to four starts this season and his disappointing goal tally has seen just two scored in 42 league games for the Shrimpers.

Lawrie Dudfield and Tesfaye Bramble were the preferred partnership at Notts County where they won 2-1 on Saturday with a double from six-goal centre-half Adam Barrett.

Harriers may be able to call upon the services of midfielders Micky Mellon (Achilles) and Frederic Advice-Desruisseaux (calf) tomorrow.

Reuben Hazell needs knee surgery and will miss at least another month of action.

n Harriers' League Two fixture at Chester City has been moved back a week to Tuesday, October 26.
