WORCESTER Warriors remain "hopeful" that their stadium will be ready for their final pre-season game.

The Warriors, who hosted Cardiff Blues on Friday in their opening warm-up clash, had hoped to complete the building work on their new East and North Stand structures in time for the match.

However, due to complications, the North Stand was not completed in time for Friday's match which led to a number of supporters being moved into the new East Stand. That meant some fans were upset by having to sit away from pre-booked seats.

Worcester will now be hoping to finalise the ground improvements before the final warm-up match on August 28 when they welcome Leinster to Sixways.

"That is the target date," said Sixways operations director Mike Robins. "The situation in the Cardiff game only arose due to circumstances beyond our control. The North Stand was not completed in time and the people who were due to be there had to be re-housed in the East Stand.

"Let's be clear, though, the East Stand holds 4,000 people and it only had around 1,500 people in it. Therefore there were plenty of empty seats.

"We remain hopeful, however, that everything will be completed for August 28."
