JAN Molby hopes to include a new face in the Kidderminster Harriers line-up tomorrow as they battle to escape the Coca-Cola League Two basement.

The Harriers board have handed Molby, working to one of the division's tightest budgets, more cash to splash after eight defeats in the last 10 fixtures.

When the club crashed 3-0 at fellow strugglers Lincoln City last weekend, it quickly forced under-pressure chairman Colin Youngjohns into action.

And, with Harriers injury woes continuing, he has freed up funds that had been ear-marked for use later in the season if the club plunged into troubled waters.

Youngjohns realised the alarm bells had already started ringing among supporters as Harriers consistently struggle to score goals and take command of games.

Tomorrow's clash with Scunthorpe United at Aggborough promises to be another stiff test for Harriers who have won twice on home turf this season, against Darlington and Macclesfield.

Youngjohns admitted: "We cannot afford to be like Carlisle last season, too exposed to the point where you cannot get back.

"At the moment, we are a win away from safety. We don't want to allow ourselves to be too far away from the other teams.

"The most important thing is that we won't get two chances at this. Carlisle will probably bounce back from the Conference but they are a big city.

"We have to use every scrap of resource to keep in touch with people at our level.

"The best we can do is to provide that little bit of extra money for our director of football to move the team in a different direction if he wants to."

Although no amount has been specified, it is believed the addition to the kitty could allow Molby to bring in more experience and hopefully goal power.

They still hold out hopes of a return tomorrow for striker Iyseden Christie who has been limited to one substitute run-out four weeks ago in his comeback from a broken foot.

Big centre-half Abdou Sall will be back from a three-match suspension and is expected to take the place of rookie Chris McHale in defence.

And French midfielder Frederic Advice-Desruisseaux is nearing a start after scoring in the reserves' mid-week 2-1 defeat to Hereford.

But Micky Mellon (Achilles), striker Youssou Diop (knee) and Reuben Hazell, who goes in for an operation on his knee injury next week, are still missing.

Scunthorpe, who also scrapped against relegation last season, are second with just two defeats in an impressive start to the campaign.

Meanwhile, Dean Keates is encouraging his young Harriers team-mates to grow up quickly in order to mount a rapid recovery.

Keates added: "If we go a goal down, we've got to take it on the chin and grind out a result."
