SUSPENDED skipper Wayne Hatswell has confessed his feelings of guilt over Jan Molby's resignation.

But the Kidderminster Harriers centre-half has insisted the players are fully behind caretaker boss Shaun Cunnington, the former youth-team coach.

Hatswell misses tomorrow's Coca-Cola League Two derby against fellow bottom-two side Shrewsbury Town at Aggborough, leaving Abdou Sall and Chris McHale as the likely defensive partnership in the middle.

The defender was shown a controversial red card for a professional foul in Harriers' 3-0 defeat at his old club Chester City on Tuesday.

And Hatswell said of Molby's departure: "I feel guilty about my part in it all. I had a good season last year and was looked upon as being one of the more experienced players who he could rely on for this season.

"I liked and respected Jan. I don't think it's any coincidence that I played the best football of my career under him.

"I have not had a good season and that has been one of the reasons why we are bottom of the league. We have had our share of bad luck but our performances have really let Jan and Gary Barnett down."

While Hatswell serves the one-match ban, Barnett will be there to assist former West Brom, Sunderland and Harriers midfielder Cunnington, at least for the near future.

Hatswell added: "I think it's the best move the club could have made given the circumstances.

"Gary's an excellent coach, while Shaun has a lot of experience of playing in the top divisions. That is invaluable considering the young side we have.

"We know Shaun well and he has been involved in training and matchdays in the past, so it's not really a big transition for the lads.

"The lads are 100 per cent in support of them and we are more determined than ever to get ourselves off the bottom of the league."

As well as producing a much-needed win, the main task for Cunnington and Barnett will be to fill the goalkeeper's role with a loan or short-term acquisition.

The highly rated John Danby, who bravely played through the Chester debacle, is out for up to six weeks with a fractured toe and reserve Danny Lewis is still recovering from broken fingers.

Meanwhile, dangerous striker Luke Rodgers, top scorer with four goals, is suspended for Shrewsbury who are also being led by a caretaker manager.

Chic Bates is filling in for Jimmy Quinn who resigned last week following Shrewsbury's poor start to the campaign after promotion from the Nationwide Conference play-offs.

Like Harriers, Shrewsbury are yet to win on their travels and they were handed a 4-1 beating at Leyton Orient earlier this month.

Harriers' 3-2 defeat of Scunthorpe United on October 16 extended their unbeaten home run to three games.
