LEON Greeff has been ruled out of Worcester Warriors' Premiership clash at Leeds on Sunday.

The flanker, who limped out of Worcester's 33-7 victory over Harlequins on Saturday, will have a scan today on his foot. Greeff may have torn a tendon and, depending on the severity, could be facing a five-week lay-off.

Worcester were boosted, however, with some good news on the injury front yesterday as Chris Horsman's hand was finally given the OK by doctors.

The tight-head prop, who broke a bone in pre-season, had a wire removed from his hand after medical staff were satisfied it had healed.

With fellow tight-head Neil Lyman coming through Saturday's momentous victory without any reaction, following his sternum injury, Worcester's director of rugby John Brain had a number of reasons to be cheerful.

"It's very positive news to have Neil and Chris back," he said. "Neil came through the Harlequins game with no problems and we're delighted about that.

"I think it was significant that Neil was back on Saturday and that helped our driving game. Chris had the wire out of his hand yesterday and now he can get on with his rehab and training.

"We'll know more about Leon's situation after today's scan but he could be out for between two and five weeks, depending on the severity of the injury."

Meanwhile, Worcester's 'A' team went down to Newcastle in a 45-12 defeat last night.

'A' team manger Billy McGinty said Chris Hooper and Iyran Clunis scored Worcester's tries, while Jon Higgins kicked one conversion.
