COMPETITIONS are a huge part of YFC life as they allow members to learn new skills which they can use in their everyday lives.

It also is a great way of socialising with other members and, of course, having fun.

This year, there will be plenty of sporting activities on offer, with 10-pin bowling, men's seven-a-side rugby and women's netball.

There will be competitions to help with public speaking, such as junior public speaking, Call My Bluff, Brainstrust and after dinner speaking.

There will also be the more "rural" competitions, in the form of stockjudging, hedgelaying and ploughing.

Members will even have a chance to take to the stage to show off their performing arts skills with the Stars in their Eyes and entertainments competitions.

As always, the YFC articles in Country News will keep you up-to-date with everything that's going on.

To start the year off, members took part in the clay pigeon shooting competition.

Young Farmers from Bromsgrove, Crowle and Inkberrow took part in the shoot at Bentley Village Hall on Saturday, September 11.

The YFC member with the best aim on the day was Adam Wood, from Bromsgrove YFC.
