"SILLY" is not an adequate response to my challenge to Julien Kramer over his handling of the Christopher Whitehead fiasco.

Mr Kramer and his colleagues in the county council's cabinet have been told many times that the plans were unworkable and would not stand up to independent scrutiny - hardly the "knee jerk response" suggested in your editorial.

Yet it seems to me that Mr Kramer was the prime mover in persuading sceptical Governors to back the plans.

Through this action, a perception of unity was created which influenced members of the full council to vote the scheme through by a narrow margin in the summer of 2001.

Of special note is information about the state of the school, which has so alarmed some parents but which the Inspector brushed aside, saying "it is not possible to conclude that conditions at the school are so bad that they could not be remedied".

When Dr George Lord was questioned by CHRISS members in October 2002, he said: "If we listened to the people all the time we'd never get anything done".

If the mess surrounding Chrissies is Dr Lord and Mr Kramer's definition of "getting something done" then heaven help us all.
