Visitors came from all over Britain for a town's annual celebration of folk music and dance.

The Bromyard Folk Festival is now in its 37th year and proved another success, said organiser Annie Jones.

"The event went very, very well," she said. "The feedback from visitors was very good, people said it was excellent and the best one ever.

"It's the first time for a few years that we've sold out of tickets, which is a good sign, but it was hard turning people away."

Although the majority of the action was based in marquees on the Broadbridge festival site, venues around the town joined in the action, hosting performances by musicians and dancers.

Morris dance displays, song sessions, concerts and workshops were on offer to visitors over three days.

"There were at least 2,000 people on site but there could have been up to 1,000 more in the town," said Mrs Jones.

"Not everyone buys a ticket, they just come to town to enjoy the atmosphere of this very colourful event."

One visitor, Jolyon Dent, travelled from Cornwall for the festival.

"I'm really enjoying it," he said. "I've been for the past few years and would say it was the general atmosphere that attracts me. I also enjoy the craft fair."

Sue Jones, from Worcester, is also a regular festival-goer.

"I come back every year and never miss a festival," she said. "The whole atmosphere of the place is wonderful."
