THE music of Britain's most iconic rock'n'roller, Billy Fury, will be brought to life at the Malvern Theatres.

Billy's original backing band, the Tornados, will bring a unique show to the Forum on Saturday, September 25, as part of a tour to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the singer's death.

The show, Halfway To Paradise: The Billy Fury Story, will keep memories of Billy alive with a special presentation of songs, reminiscences and previously unseen footage of the star projected on a large screen.

Billy Fury's legacy of songs includes 29 hit singles in the late 50s and early 60s, including Like I've Never Been Gone, Once Upon A Dream, Wondrous Place and Halfway To Paradise.

The Tornados - Charlie Elston on keyboards, Chris Raynor on guitar, John Raynor on drums and John Chambers on bass - were put together in the 60's when Billy wanted a full-time backing band.

They toured with Billy from then until illness put an end to his career.

Years later in 1996, Chris Raynor saw an impersonation of Billy on Stars In Your Eyes. After locating the singer, Colin Gold, he reformed the Tornados for The Billy Fury Experience.

For the 21st anniversary, Chris assembled a new show, complete with unseen footage, including film from the famous 1972 Wembley show. Tickets are £14 and £16 from 01684 892277.
