Staff at the Three Crowns in Ullingswick were cooking up a treat after the venue was listed in a national pub food guide.

The pub, run by Brent Castle and his partner Rachel Baker, was listed in the Michelin guide to eating out in pubs.

The guide contains 500 pubs that Michelin considers to be the best dining pubs in Britain and Ireland.

"It's really nice to be in the guide," said Mr Castle.

"It's good that people like Michelin are starting to recognise the shift in eating habits in Britain.

"People are moving away from formal restaurants towards pubs where they can have a relaxed meal and a drink."

The couple took over the pub two and a half years ago. Their aim is to provide pub food at reasonable prices, with the help of chefs Jon Howe and Dan Cross.

Although the pub currently consists of one room for both eating and drinking, they intend to extend it to provide a separate dining room in the near future.

"We just want to see our customers happy," said Mr Castle.

"We're a little rural pub in beautiful surroundings providing good food and value for money."

The Michelin guide is available in bookshops at £14.99.
