HEREFORD United boss Graham Turner has underlined the importance of getting the club's home form back on track as Scarborough head to Edgar Street tomorrow.

The Bulls extended their unbeaten Nationwide Conference away run to 16 games after overthrowing in-form Gravesend and Northfleet 2-1 last weekend.

But Turner admits it is pointless picking up the wins on the road if it is not backed up with strong results at headquarters.

It comes after United lost their last two home games to Stevenage Borough and Halifax Town.

Hereford can build on their promotion bid if they achieve back-to-back victories over Scarborough and Aldershot Town who visit on Tuesday night.

The Seadogs played their part in an enthralling contest at Edgar Street last season, losing 2-1, and Nick Henry's side will be gunning for revenge.

Tamika Mkandawire may be included in United's starting line-up after recovering from hamstring trouble.

But fellow centre-half Tom Smith impressed in his first game of the season against Fleet and could hold his place.

Rob Purdie (ankle) is still out and Mark Robinson stands by to replace the doubtful Ryan Green (stomach).

Manager Turner is looking for his players to repeat their second-half performance at Gravesend regularly.

He said: "We have got to take control of the game and assert our influence early on. Like most teams, Scarborough are very organised and they have made a decent start to the season.

"But if we perform in the same manner that we did in the second half against Gravesend then we should get a good result. That was as good as we've played since the end of last season.

"It's important that we get our home form back on track. We gifted the game to Halifax and it's vital that we learn from the mistakes we made."

Turner gave special praise for Smith and midfielder Craig Stanley, whose 78th minute winner on Saturday was his first league goal for the Bulls.

He added: "Tom did well for us and had a very good second-half. He had a long spell in the team at the end of last season and has a good future.

"I was pleased for Craig when he scored. He's technically very good but when he came to us from Telford he had to adapt to a different style of play and he's done that."
