A VISITOR from London has contacted police about the theft of the topo- scope from Worcestershire Beacon.
The woman heard from friends that the local landmark had been stolen and has been able to pinpoint time of the theft more accurately.
She saw the toposcope at about 8pm on August 31. But when she climbed the Beacon at about 2.30pm the next day, it had gone.
A police spokesman said: "Information such as this is helpful to our inquiries."
The toposcope was replica, made after the original was stolen in 2000. It was later recovered and is in safe keeping.
