Work is being carried out on a Malvern church to make it more user-friendly.

Six pews have been removed from Holly Mount United Reformed Church, in Queen's Drive, to make access easier for older members of the congregation.

Rev Denis Simons said: "We've had the pews moved from the back of the church to make it easier for older members to get up and down the church.

"The pews have been replaced with little tables and chairs, to be used if we need them."

The pulpit at the church has been removed and the stage area is due to be extended to make it more useful to music groups and church events.

Work may also need to be carried out on the church spire after stonework showed signs of crumbling.

A steeplejack recently inspected the spire and is to produce a report on its condition.
