ANCHOR Falcons bowed out of the Bernard Finnegan Cup at the first hurdle on Sunday after throwing away a one goal lead in the second half at Dyson Perrins.

ANCHOR FALCONS 1, SPORTING WORCESTER 2

Having opened the scoring through a brilliant top corner finish from Dave Jenkinson, the Falcons continued to control the game although chances were at a premium.

Sporting bucked their ideas up after the break, and imposed themselves on the home defence, although they found man of the match Mark Berry and his defence difficult to break down initially.

Their equaliser was slightly fortuitous when a right wing cross caught the wind and sailed over the head of despairing home keeper Mike Berry into the far corner of the net.

With ten minutes to go Sporting took the lead with a thunderous shot from 25 yards.

A slightly disappointing reverse for the Falcons after the tremendous start the previous week, but it was a good run out ahead of this Sunday's league fixture at Little Perdiswell against Plumbers Arms. Players meet 9.45am at the car park opposite the ground.
