RADAR progressed to the next round of the Worcester Sunday League's Bernard Finnegan Trophy with an impressive display last Sunday.

MALVERN RADAR 11, DEERS LEAP ATHLETIC 0

The score was 2-0 as early as the 7th minute with an easy tap-in for Nial Henderson opening the scoring followed by a trademark 25 yard free-kick by Clive Churchill which torpedoed into the roof of the net.

The closest Athletic came to scoring was when a great 30-yard shot from Gareth Williams crashed against the bar and flew over.

Henderson and Lee Hooper were creating all sort of problems for the overworked Deers Leap defence where centre half Sammy Engele defended tirelessly and keeper Mat Wilson played well.

There was only one further goal before half-time, again well finished by Nial Henderson, who drove the ball into the top corner.

The second half was a bit of a rout although credit to Deers Leap, who never gave up the battle, but a mixture of well taken and well worked goals totted up the final score.

The pick of the goals was certainly Darren Loader's 35-yard half-volley which flew into the net. A late hat-trick from Lee Hooper together with further efforts from Matt Brookes, Darren Baker, Simon Clark and Henderson, who also completed his hat-trick, finished off the action.

This Sunday Radar are at home again against Droitwich Spa Eagles. A special mention for Clive Churchill who will miss his first game following 57 successive appearances and only his second game in 80 as he is taking a late summer break in Majorca.
