HINTON arrived at the Langlands Stadium for this midweek match with their confidence boosted having beaten league leaders Wyrley 3-0 at the weekend.

MALVERN TOWN RESERVES 1, HINTON 1

The expected domination never materialised and Town settled into a good passing rhythm.

Much against the pattern of play, Hinton's speedy left winger got goal side of Adam Simpson and he lobbed the ball over advancing goalie Paul Wyatt for a 0-1 lead.

Town tightened things up in defence, where Joe Leighton and Jamie Thomas excelled. With ten minutes to go Rich Tompkins had his shot half blocked by the Hinton goalie, the ball fell to Mike Roberts and his shot was blocked by a defender. The ball then fell to Ed Lyons who connected well and smashed it home off the underside of the cross bar.

The game opened up as both sides went in search of a winner, but with time running out, Town settled for a well earned point.

THE following Saturday Town Reserves lost by the odd-goal at home to Bewdley.

Town survived a tenth minute penalty, awarded after a clumsy challenge by Mike Oakes, but fell a goal behind when Bewdley captain Paul Hoff side-footed home.

In the dying minutes Barry Hughes saw his snap shot blocked by former Town goalie Steve Thomas and despite battling well, Town were denied a share of the points.
