Dr Bob Davis asks people to stand up and be counted on the future of the heritage centre based at Pershore Town Hall. Purely as an individual councillor, I feel that I simply must reply.

It has become apparent that the intended use of the front room for the town clerk is impractical. The tourist information centre which is growing in popularity and usage, is by it's very nature at times a noisy facility, and it does require a front of house ground floor space. To deal with Dr Davis' points.

There is no need to recoup funds spent on the town hall as they came from the sale of council owned buildings, and investments. .

The council is not being cute by not putting things in writing, my recollection is that the council fully intended to negotiate with the heritage centre.

I personally do not believe the heritage centre would be ineffective, quite the contrary.

The main room in the town hall is the chamber, and we certainly do not want to use it for the town clerk.

Affording the heritage centre the space that they occupy is in fact a cost to the council and one that the council has always been prepared to accept.

Cllr G Amphlett, Pershore.
