IT is hoped a larger than life DJ hailed as the saviour of Radio 1 can work his magic on rock bottom Kidderminster Harriers this weekend when he cheers them on in their battle to climb the Coca Cola League Two table.

Chris Moyles and his breakfast team - Comedy Dave, Aled, Juliette and Dom, and producer and Harriers fan, Rachel Jones - will be in the stands at Aggborough Stadium to see Harriers take on Macclesfield Town on Saturday.

The club's media manager, Steve Thomas, said he wants them to leave with glowing reports of Molby's men.

Rachel, a former Wolverley High School pupil who did work experience on the Shuttle/Times & News, said she had supported the club since she was 16 and was hoping for a win - or at least a draw - against Macclesfield, following five straight defeats.

She added the breakfast crew, which broadcasts on weekdays from 7am until 10am on 97-99FM, was in the Midlands for Radio 1's free music festival, One Big Weekend, at Perry Park, Birmingham, which kicks off with a dance day on Saturday, followed by bands day on Sunday.

"I love it when Radio 1 do things in the Midlands because it's my home turf and makes me feel really proud," she said, adding the team was signing books at Aston University students' guild from 5.30pm until 6.30pm today, and she hoped to see some Kidderminster faces.

"I'm really glad that the team is coming to Kidderminster because I always talk about it, with it being my home town," she added.

"I'm not a diehard Harriers fan but have a real soft spot for them because I'm from Kidderminster and started supporting them when I was about 16 ... and always follow them as much as I can.

"Chris has never seen them play before - he's a devoted Leeds United supporter - but I think he's intrigued about the Harriers because I support them.

"I think the guys at Harriers are really up for it and Chris is just interested - they're all football fans coming to give Harriers a bit of support because we need it at the moment."

Rachel, 30, added: "I'd love us to win - we're not doing great at the moment - I'll be happy with 1-0 or a draw.

"Obviously we'll talk all about it on Monday morning and how it went on."

Steve Thomas said: "It's great that the biggest DJ in the country is coming to the club for the day.

"Hopefully, we can produce a good performance - both on and off the pitch - so they can go and talk about us in the best possible light."
