l MEMBERS of Harvington Golf Society made their annual pilgrimage to Burford compete in the 36-hole championship event.

The morning medal round would define the top 40 per cent of the field, who would make the cut to compete in the second round.

The qualifiers were separated by only six shots, with Robin Proctor leading the way with a net 67 to lead by a single shot from Mike Filleul and James Ryan.

The three golfers played together in the afternoon round when they all produced more excellent form.

Proctor maintained his lead with a second 67 to take the title one stroke ahead of Ryan and two in front of Filleul.

Non qualifiers played in the consolation event, using stableford scoring to determine the winner.

Warwick Holland secured the spoils with 39 points followed by Bob Claude (37) and Tony Soper (35).
