CLEOBURY Mortimer prepared for their forthcoming North Midlands South One campaign with a comprehensive friendly victory at Clee Hill.

Coach Tony Heap's men ran out convincing 40-0 winners.

Despite having the bare minimum 15 players compared to Clee, who were able to rotate their squad, Cleobury dominated from start to finish. The six-try demolition began was led by No 8 Paul Hulland who grabbed a hat-trick, while wing forward Colin Todd and left wing Mark Little also managed tries for the second successive game.

The highlight was a first try for the club from centre Steve Morris who later had to endure the traditional 'boot' drink.

Julian Harding had an almost faultless kicking display with five from six conversions and a 10-point haul.

Cleobury also managed to put out a second XV for their home clash with newly-formed Bewdley-Stourport and once again the opposition were better off in numbers.

Bewdley-Stourport emerged as 14-10 victors thanks in the main to their superior kicking performance.

In a tight contest both sides scored two tries each as Luke Price and Nick Griffiths were on target for Cleobury.

Bewdley-Stourport's first try came midway through the first half when Steve Griffen scored in the corner after an exchange with Chris Lewis.

They were awarded another five points from a drive over try before the interval with the accurate boot of Griffen proving the difference as he kicked both of the conversions.
