BEWDLEY Town came away from Malvern Town Reserves with a 1-0 victory, but at times appeared tired and lethargic against their young opponents, with many scoring opportunies squandered.

Jamie Hart shot just wide in the first four minutes, and was brought down in the area four minutes later.

Gary Middleton shot wide with the resulting penalty, but Malvern's best chance also went wide following a mix-up in the Bewdley defence which let in Ed Lyons.

In his first start,Nathan Williams headed over the bar following a cross from Ben McCloughlan, and Lewis Pountney mis-kicked in front of goal. In the 52nd minute Chris Hough sprinted clear of the defence and found the net to give Bewdley their goal.

A good save by Malvern goalkeeper Paul Wyatt denied Dan Finnegan.

Moments later a free kick for the host side saw Matt Barry head against the bar.

Malvern came more into the game, forcing Bewdley goalkeeper Steve Thomas to be alert.

Hough tried for his second but headed over from Hart's cross. Rob Perrins had a chance to equalise but hit the Bewdley post a minute from time.

Bewdley Town will be hoping for another win when they entertain Stafford Town at Ribbesford Meadows on Saturday (2.45pm).
