IN the light of recent press coverage regarding a woman who was refused a place on a bus because her pushchair was not folded, I would like to bring a matter to the attention of your readers.

Standing at the bus stop recently I witnessed the end of an incident where a struggling grandmother with a screaming toddler attempted to juggle shopping, child, bus fare and collapsed pushchair onto a waiting bus.

An off-duty bus driver was also waiting to get on the bus. Did he help this damsel in distress? No. He merely looked on and "tutted".

My children, thankfully, are no longer toddlers, but I remember those stressful times well, where the kind hand of a stranger made all the difference.

I hope the "helpful" driver had a conscience and may look to help out in the future.

A kind action goes a long way.
