Kays 2, Littleton Jnrs U-14 3

LAST season's champions met the previous year's winners in what proved a great advert for junior football.

Littleton were grateful to keeper Steve Powell for two terrific saves before Ryan Clarke created an opening but Lance Smith shot tamely at the keeper.

The second half saw Littleton open strongly and it wasn't long before they took the lead when Matt Smith bent a superb free-kick into the top corner.

Matt Goss worked another opening for the scorer who calmly rounded the keeper to roll the ball into an empty net.

Littleton then relaxed and were caught out by a long ball before a defender was caught in possession and Kays had hit back to equalise.

An injury caused Powell to retire but replacement Luke Lowerson was more than up to the job and his long kick led to a corner that Steve Edghill headed in at the far post.

Cheltenham YMCA 2,

Badsey Rgrs U-15 8

RANGERS made a slow start and fell behind for the second successive week to the team standing second in the table.

However, within two minutes, Joe Smith's trademark free-kick had found its way into the YMCA net. The action continued thick and fast and the hosts were denied a second by the crossbar before Ben Holland finished off a slick Badsey passing move.

Another splendid move ended with Smith making it 3-1 and a now rampant Rangers took control and it was 6-1 at the half-time courtesy of further goals from Shaun Read, Owen Powell and Mark Magee.

YMCA were shellshocked and there was no way back especially when George Lavis lobbed in his side's seventh from 25 yards.

The same player completed a fine team display with an eighth goal after Cheltenham had doubled their tally on an afternoon when midfielder Holland was named player of the match.

Evesham Utd U-11 7,

Cheltenham Saracens 2

THE visitors took a deserved lead from the penalty spot but Henry Woods levelled with a shot from outside the penalty area.

The visitors to Wickhamford hit back quickly at the opposite end and made it 2-1 foll;owing a fine move.

The second half saw United take control with the wind at their backs and Louis Brown levelled from a well-worked corner.

Dan Francis then placed the ball between the inside post and the keeper following Brown's pass before Woods stabbed in Brown's good work.

Tighter defensive team work from Bryn Tomes, Craig Whiting, Tom Evans, Owen Jones, Scott Andrew and James Coldrick kept the visitors at bay and goalkeeper Ballard didn't touch the ball at all in the second half.

Brown got on the end of a fine passing move that involved George Darling, Tom Evans, Woods, Francis and Bearcroft.

Woods completed his hat-trick and then finished the scoring after Elliot Grady's skilful dribble out of defence.

Evesham Utd U-12 1, Cirencester 3

CIRENCESTER struck first in what was an even contest and then increased their lead with a fierce drive.

Evesham halved the arrears when Michael Savidge netted but Cirencester put the result game beyond doubt with a third goal.

Jordan Willis was named Evesham's player of the match.

Evesham Utd U-11 B 3,

Cheltenham YMCA A 5

UNITED made the brighter start and only fine goalkeeping prevented Joe Irons giving them the lead.

However, Evesham were caught on the break and YMCA found the net to take the half-time lead.

Player of the match Angus Steele swiftly put his side back on level terms with a fine strike and Irons then chipped the Cheltenham keeper to make it 2-1.

Parity didn't last long and the visitors levelled before scoring three more times to take the honours despite a late Evesham reply.

Broadway U-11 3,

Drakes Broughton Rgrs 1

RANGERS crashed to an opening day defeat at the hands of strong opponents who received the boost of a first half goal.

Daniel Wilcox hit back for Drakes to ensure the sides went in level at half-time but Broadway scored two more after the break to claim the victory.

However, the winners were indebted to their goalkeeper who produced some fine stops to keep out efforts from Calum Tidy, Joe Morrall and Sam Shale.

Pershore Tn U-11 9,

Sheppy Jnrs Swifts Blue 1

JOSH Smith banged in a hat-trick as Pershore started the season in fine style with an emphatic defeat of their local rivals.

Sheppy did have their moments but found goalkeeper Andrew Nickell in top form and he was only beaten once by a fine free-kick.

Joining Smith on the scoresheet were Sam Cross, who scored twice, Jordan Brant and Luke Jones.
