A MOTHER photographed her son's haul of stolen loot from a burglary before reporting him to police, Worcester Crown Court was told.

Edmund Bradley was seen acting suspiciously by his mother, Pauline, who found the stolen champagne, camera and DVD in the boot of his car, said Pardeep Tiwana, prosecuting.

The property, worth £1,255, was part of a £12,000 haul taken in a burglary of a country house at Lindridge nine days before. Bradley, aged 28, of Garden Cottage, Bayton, near Bewdley, pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and possessing small quantities of heroin and cannabis.

He was jailed for nine months but the sentence is not to start until he has served 362 days of a previous sentence imposed at Stafford Crown Court last September for five burglaries.

Nicolas Cartwright, defending, said it was a sad story of a man of ability and qualifications who had become addicted to drugs. He came from a respectable family, as evidenced by his mother finding the stolen goods and notifying police.

Bradley had been released from prison on licence on April 15 and the offence had been committed two months later.

He had been unable to get a job and wanted money for drugs.

He was at a low ebb and his parents were frustrated that probation support had been reduced from weekly to fortnightly.
