KIDDERMINSTER quarterback Henry Allen is celebrating after helping his American football team become champions of Great Britain.
The 16-year-old was a member of the Bath Cardinals side which beat North Lanarkshire Rams 18-14 to clinch the BYAFA Bowl.
It was a closely fought final at the Dewsbury Rams Stadium in Yorkshire with the Cardinals triumphing with a late touchdown.
Allen played his part during his team's run to glory with important contributions in the six group games, the most valued player award in the semi-final and an impressive performance in the final.
The pupil at Birmingham's King Edwards School first took up the sport less than two years ago after starting out in rugby.
His encouraging progress at club level has earned him international recognition with Great Britain and he will fly out for a tournament in Italy next month.
His father Chris said: "Considering he's not being playing that long, to win the championship is a great."
