KIDDERMINSTER sailor Andrew Hibberd gave a good account of himself at the Paignton Radial Q 2004 in Devon by finishing in fourth place overall.
Getting to grips with his laser dinghy and using the larger radial sail for the first time in competition, Hibberd read the conditions well.
With light winds it was very testing and only two races were sailed with many of the fleet out of time and unable to complete the course in time.
But the 15-year-old King's School pupil managed to finish both races in the top 10, ahead of many expereinced radial sailors.
It was a creditable result for Hibberd who has now hoping to test his skills in a stiffer breeze in the next big competition in Beer, Devon, on October 9 and 10.
Hibberd is working hard to get used to the radial sail ahead of his possible involvement in the Youth Nationals in Scotland next year.
