DIAMONDS are for effort, a couple running a Stourport pub have discovered, after earning an accolade from the English Tourist Board.
The Angel, on Riverside, has been awarded a three diamonds rating by the board, following a £70,000 refurbishment.
It was taken over by Tim and Sharron Hughes last October and in the year since they have strived to raise standards.
The upgrade has included improving letting bedrooms by installing en suite facilities in all the rooms and refurbishing the kitchen.
"These works represent a significant investment towards tourism in the Wyre Forest district", said Mr Hughes.
The English Tourist Board three diamond recognition followed an unannounced overnight inspection by board representatives.
It is the second award earned by the pub in recent months, having achieved cask marque accreditation for the quality of its cask ales.
