A MEMBER of Bewdley Pines Golf Club will be spared from buying the clubhouse drinks after his hole-in-one - because he is only 11!

Adam Sidaway became the youngest member to get an ace at the course with his shot on the par three fith hole.

He will find his way to the bar however, with his feat being commerorated with a plaque in the club-house.

Sidaway and his golf partner Luke John will be taking part in the open age club pairs final on Sunday September 26, taking on the current club captain Kevin Roderick and his partner Pete Heilbronn.

The duo, both from Brierley Hill, came through six rounds to get to the final, all against senior members of the club.

They have been members of the club for three years, and playing golf for four.

DEAN Thatcher is toasting a treble after becoming Wyre Forest Golf Club champion for the third successive year.

Thatcher, who works in the club shop, won the gross competition despite being 11 over par. He carded 79+72=151 to beat off the challenge of Dave Homer and Terry Soley who were joint second on 74+82=156.

There was success for Alistair McIntyre who won the nett competition with 65+67=132 ahead of Darren Canty 70+65=135 and Mark Sprason 67+70=137.

MALCOLM Bradley, who plays for Kidderminster Golf Club off a handicap of 13, will compete for the Audi Quattro Cup UK golf title, at the Forest of Arden Golf Club on Wednesday.

Bewdley resident Bradley got through his qualifying event, when he was fifth at Taunton in May, then won the regional final at St Pierre Golf Club, Chepstow, in July.

PAT Dolan won Habberley Golf Club's Men's Championship, with 149 gross, two ahead of father and son, both named Ross Hawken, who each scored 151.

Best nett on countback: Hawken (sen) 133.
