PROBUS CLUB: AT the meeting in July, Ted Mercer a member presented a programme of music and comment. By way of introduction he said that he was not a musician, being too lazy to study and that he preferred to listen.
Speaker at the August 6 meeting was David Cotteril and his subject for discussion was the European Union and future inter-member relationships. His extensive travel and contacts with other Europeans over a period of time had given him a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of individual nation's attitudes to one another and to the USA and UK in particular.
On August 20 members were given a talk about prisons by Roger Starkie, chairman of the Board of Visitors at Long Lartin Prison.
