TWO people representing a Redditch charity will be going to great lengths to help raise funds to support a vital service in the town.

Volunteer Martyn Ursell and counsellor Jane Deane, of Carers Careline, will be making a splash in Hewell Road swimming baths on September 26 during a sponsored event to raise funds.

Volunteer co-ordinator Tina Wright said: "The event will be taking place from 8am-12.30pm and Martyn is hoping to swim an amazing 200 lengths.

"We are really rooting for both him and Jane.

"We're extremely grateful to Hewell Road swimming baths for so generously letting us use the facilities both last year and this for our sponsored event.

"We hope the people of Redditch will really dig deep and sponsor our two swimmers."

Carers Careline is a charity which provides a lifeline for vulnerable people and the individuals who tirelessly take care of them and it relies heavily on the generosity of volunteers and members of the public.

It offers a visiting service and a shopping service and gives a break to people who give round-the-clock attention to a family member or friend.

The charity is desperately on the lookout for more volunteers who can give up just two or three hours a week to ease the life of a carer and the person they look after.

The charity offers volunteers training, experience and a chance to meet new people.
