I AM saddened to see the campaign for a Studley bypass has been lost but I do not feel the people who campaigned for it did not do enough to highlight the real benefits it would have brought to Studley.

We do not have to go far to see what these benefits might have been.

If we look at Bidford, it used to be log-jammed in the summer with cars. Now, since it has had a bypass, it has reverted to being a sleepy little village once again and with no passing trade, most of the shops have closed.

This has put an end to the parking problems in the village and on my last visit, there was only one pub open.

Both of these would be a positive benefit to Studley, given the terrible parking problems in the High Street and the reports of antisocial behaviour caused by people leaving the many pubs in the village.

And if we look to Evesham and its bypass, this has made available hundreds of acres of building land.

A bypass around Studley would have had the same benefit, allowing the building of hundreds of much- needed houses and possibly industrial estates providing jobs for the people of the village
