A SUCCESSFUL self-made Redditch businessman is gearing up to marry stunning supermodel Jodie Kidd.

Former Arrow Vale High school pupil Aidan Butler, 27, met Jodie in May during the six-day, 3,000-mile Gumball car rally across France, Morocco and Spain.

Jodie was driving her Maserati Spyder and Aidan was driving his brand new Lamborghini.

They met in a garage in Barcelona during the last leg of the rally and it was love at first sight.

Aidan said: "From the day we met, we have not spent any time apart.

"When I first met her, I just thought she was a really cool girl and we had a laugh together.

"I'd only had three hours' sleep in four days so I wasn't looking my best."

The instant attraction between the couple soon blossomed into love and Aidan proposed to Jodie just two months after the rally while she was filming a television series in France.

Aidan said: "I designed the ring myself. I have a friend who is a jeweller and he helped me with it. I was just so pleased she liked it."

A date for the wedding hasn't been set but Aidan said it would be some time next year and would probably be in the south.

The couple are currently looking for a new home half way between Aidan's family in Redditch and Jodie's family in the south.

Speaking about his own successful career, Aidan said: "I was never very academic at school and I was a bit of a dosser.

"My reports were awful - they always said 'could try harder' and 'he should spend less time talking'."

Aidan said school just wasn't his cup of tea and he left at 16 with no qualifications to join his father in the bookmaking business.

He spent a year in Australia when he was 20 and began creating his business empire when he returned.

Aidan, who is a bookmaker by trade, now owns two internet companies and a recruitment agency.
